The IWDP team

The Islamic World Discovery Project (IWDP) executive and production team are long-term experts in various aspects of the education of school and tertiary age students in Australia and internationally.

Dr Fiona Hill, IWDP Founder and Manager
Fiona is responsible for commissioning and coordinating the production of all IWDP resources and for maintaining quality control. Fiona has worked in education for 20 years, teaching at university and privately consulting to educators and educational institutions in their commercial interface with the Arab region. She has been closely involved with the Australian Muslim and Arabic-speaking communities for many years. Fiona provides professional development to educators about the Arab world and Islam, and assists publishers in reviewing school texts that deal with Islam.

Fiona also owns and manages Almanar Consultancy.

Professor Abdul-Khaliq Kazi, Islamic Scholar
A-K Kazi is Dean of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Islamic University of Islamabad. For over 30 years, he was Head of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the University of Melbourne. After leaving Melbourne, he was Dean of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the International Islamic University of Kuala Lumpur. He is Board Member for the Muslim World League.

Ms Jill Wilson, School Education Consultant
Jill is Project Manager, Studies of Asia, at Curriculum Corporation and has long experience in the coordination of teacher professional development in studies of Asia. Jill has collaborated with Fiona Hill on professional development for teachers about Islam for several years, and together they convened the Sense of Islam lecture series that was hosted for two years by the Asialink Centre at the University of Melbourne.

Associate Professor Abdullah Saeed, Advisor
Abdullah Saeed is Sultanate of Oman Chair in Arabic and Islamic Studies, University of Melbourne, and Chairman of the Australian National Centre for Excellence in Islamic Studies.

Mr Scott Matthews, Creative Director
Scott is an illustrator and multimedia designer with over ten years experience in the publishing industry, specialising in primary and secondary school educational projects.

Ms Rebecca Hill, Managing Editor
Rebecca is a freelance editor who has been working in educational publishing since 1998. She has extensive editing and project management skills, and is familiar with the early learning, primary and secondary education marketplace.
